DNA Snake Engagement Ring
This particular ring is the most emotional piece of all. It reminds me of the movie “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusaders”. In one scene, Indiana Jones had to find Jesus’ cup that is the holy grail. There were many other grails, stunning gold and diamond works of art, yet the one he was looking for was quite different. What would a man capable of creating anything physically possible propose with? This ring features a snake, the bearer of information that, although probably true, caused a millennial suffering. It carries a DNA encoded message on its body. The stone is a natural blue topaz, but in the process of direct casting that involved high heat, the stone lost its color and turned colorless. It was not possible to remove the stone without damaging the snake, so it stayed in. In this movie, none of the grails was a wise choice. The ring is made out of silver and plated with rose gold.
Did the Snake Lie?
The question of whether the serpent lied or told the truth can be a bit nuanced. On one hand, the serpent’s statement contained some truth:
“Your eyes will be opened” — This happened. After eating the fruit, Adam and Eve became aware of their nakedness and experienced a shift in their perception of good and evil.
“You will be like God” — This is also partially true in the sense that they gained knowledge that they didn’t have before, but not in the way the serpent implied. The serpent suggested that they would gain god-like power and wisdom, but instead, they gained an awareness of their own vulnerability and sin, which led to their fall.
However, the serpent lied in terms of the ultimate consequence: it said, “You will not surely die” (Genesis 3:4), which was false. According to the narrative, eating the fruit brought spiritual death, and eventually, physical death, which was a direct result of their disobedience.
So, while the serpent’s words had some truth, they were deceptive in the way they framed the outcome. It’s a mixture of truth twisted with a lie — a half-truth meant to mislead.
